Cass Scenic Railroad State Park
Cass Scenic Railroad lets you ride real steam-powered trains up a steep mountain, just like loggers did over a hundred years ago. The old locomotives huff, chug, and whistle as they climb through the forest.
Kids and grown-ups love the sights, sounds, and smell of these mighty machines. The train climbs to Bald Knob, one of the highest points in the state, with a huge view at the top.
Real Steam Trains
The park keeps a fleet of restored steam locomotives that still burn coal and puff white clouds. Riding one feels like traveling back in time to the age of the great logging camps.
The Company Town
The old town of Cass has been preserved with its wooden houses, a country store, and a museum. You can stay overnight in the historic homes where lumber workers once lived.
Top-of-the-World Views
The longest train trip climbs all the way to Bald Knob at over 4,700 feet high. On a clear day you can see rolling mountains rolling out in every direction.
