Blackwater Falls State Park
Blackwater Falls is a stunning waterfall where amber-colored water tumbles five stories down into a rocky gorge. The water gets its dark tea color from the hemlock and spruce needles in the forest.
Visitors love the wooden boardwalk and stairs that lead right to the base of the falls. In winter the park becomes a snowy playground with sledding on a huge magic-carpet hill.
The Golden Waterfall
A boardwalk with many steps leads you close enough to feel the mist from the falling water. The unusual amber color makes it one of the most photographed spots in the state.
Winter Fun
When snow falls, the park opens a long sledding hill with a conveyor lift so you do not have to walk back up. Cross-country skiing and cozy cabins make it a favorite cold-weather trip.
Woods and Wildlife
The deep evergreen forest is home to deer, foxes, and many kinds of birds. Quiet hikers might spot a snowshoe hare or hear the call of an owl at dusk.
