Olympic National Park
Olympic National Park is a huge wild place with three worlds in one: misty rainforests, snowy mountains, and wave-crashing beaches. You can explore all of them in a single trip.
It is famous for the Hoh Rain Forest, where moss hangs from every branch like green curtains. Families come to touch giant ferns, wade in tide pools, and search for elk in the meadows.
The Rain Forest
The Hoh gets so much rain that everything is covered in soft green moss and ferns. It is one of the few rainforests in the whole United States.
Tide Pool Beaches
At beaches like Rialto and Ruby you can peek into tide pools full of purple sea stars, crabs, and anemones. Tall rock towers called sea stacks stand right in the waves.
Roosevelt Elk
The park protects big herds of Roosevelt elk, the largest elk in North America. In fall you might hear the males bugling their loud, whistling calls.
