Natural Bridge State Park
Natural Bridge is a giant stone arch carved by a creek over millions of years in the Virginia mountains. Standing 215 feet tall, the rock bridge is so big that a road once ran right across its top.
It is famous as one of America's oldest natural wonders, once owned by Thomas Jefferson himself. Visitors walk a shady trail under the towering arch, following a stream to a pretty waterfall deeper in the gorge.

The arch is taller than a 20-story building and was slowly shaped by water carving through the rock. Standing beneath it, you feel very small next to this amazing work of nature.
A walk in the gorge
A gentle trail follows Cedar Creek beneath the bridge and leads to a peaceful waterfall. Along the way you can see tall trees, mossy rocks, and cool, clear water.
History and legend
Thomas Jefferson loved this place so much that he bought it long ago to keep it safe. People have visited the bridge for hundreds of years, and it remains one of Virginia's most treasured natural sights.
