Luray Caverns
Luray Caverns is a giant underground world of caves filled with stone towers, columns, and mirror-like pools. It is the largest cavern in the eastern United States and stays cool all year round.
It is famous for a one-of-a-kind Stalacpipe Organ that makes music by gently tapping the stone formations. Visitors are amazed by the sparkling rock shapes that took millions of years to grow drop by drop.
Amazing rock shapes
Inside you will see stalactites hanging from the ceiling and stalagmites rising from the floor like frozen stone icicles. Some look like castles, curtains, or giant scoops of ice cream.
The stone organ
The Great Stalacpipe Organ is the largest musical instrument in the world, and it plays soft notes by tapping the cave rocks. The gentle music echoing through the caverns feels a little bit like magic.
Cool underground weather
Deep in the cave the temperature stays around 54 degrees no matter the season, so bring a light jacket. It is a perfect place to explore on a hot summer day or a cold winter one.
