Hamilton Pool Preserve
Hamilton Pool is a beautiful natural swimming hole near Austin. It formed when the roof of an underground river cave collapsed long ago.
People love its jade-green water, tall stone dome, and a waterfall that spills from above. Ferns and mossy rocks make it feel like a secret hidden garden.

The Grotto
A huge curved rock roof arches over part of the green pool. A thin waterfall drips down the stone into the cool water below.

Swimming
On warm days families can swim in the calm, shady pool. A short trail through the woods leads down to the water.

Plants and Animals
Ferns, mosses, and tall cypress trees grow around the pool. Birds and small critters make homes in the cool, green canyon.
