Falls Park at Sioux Falls
Falls Park is a beautiful city park in Sioux Falls built around the roaring waterfalls of the Big Sioux River. The pink quartzite rocks give the falls their own special color as the water tumbles over them.
It is famous because thousands of gallons of water rush over the falls every second, right in the heart of the city. Families love the walking paths, the viewing tower, and the light show on summer nights.
The Pink Rocks
The waterfalls flow over pink quartzite, a very hard and colorful stone that was used to build many old local buildings. The rocks make the whole park glow with a rosy color.
Views and Walks
A five-story viewing tower lets families climb up and look down at the falls from above. Paved paths and bridges make it easy to explore and take pictures.
Seasons of Fun
In summer the park is full of picnics and a nighttime light show on the falls. In winter the falls freeze into sparkling ice and the park glows with holiday lights.
