Waterplace Park is a riverfront park in downtown Providence with walking paths and stone bridges. It is famous for WaterFire, an art event with bonfires floating on the river.
On WaterFire nights, more than 80 fires glow on the water while music plays and people wander the paths. It feels magical and brings the whole city together.
On summer and fall nights you can watch the WaterFire bonfires and hear world music. Gondola boats even glide along the river during the event.
The park has curving walkways, pretty stone bridges, and a wide basin where the rivers meet. At night the firelight reflects beautifully on the water.
WaterFire runs mostly in warm months from spring through fall. Bring a light jacket because evenings by the river can feel cool.
