Theodore Roosevelt National Park
Theodore Roosevelt National Park spreads across the colorful North Dakota Badlands, where wind and water carved striped hills and deep canyons. It is the only U.S. national park named after a single person.
It is famous because young Theodore Roosevelt fell in love with this land, and it later helped shape him into a great protector of nature. Today visitors love spotting wild bison, prairie dogs, and wild horses roaming free.

The park is home to shaggy bison, chattering prairie dogs, elk, and herds of free-roaming wild horses. Watching a bison graze on the grassy hills feels like stepping back in time.
Scenery
The Badlands glow in bands of red, orange, and gray that change color as the sun moves across the sky. At sunset the whole canyon seems to light up like a painting.
Activities
Families can drive the scenic loop road, hike gentle nature trails, and stop at overlooks to search for animals. Rangers offer fun talks that help kids learn about the land.
