The Empire State Building is a very tall, pointy skyscraper that towers over New York City. It has 102 floors and observation decks near the top where you can look out over everything.
It is famous for once being the tallest building in the world and for starring in many movies. From the top you can see the whole city spread out below like a tiny toy town.
From the observation deck you can see for miles across the city, the rivers, and even other states on a clear day. A fast elevator whisks you up to the top in about a minute.
The very top of the building lights up in different colors to celebrate holidays and special days. It might glow red and green at Christmas or many colors for a festival.
Workers built this giant tower in just over one year during the 1930s, which was incredibly fast. It became a symbol of the city and appears in the famous movie King Kong.
