Sandhill Crane Migration (Platte River)
Every spring, hundreds of thousands of tall sandhill cranes gather along the Platte River near Kearney. It is one of the largest gatherings of birds anywhere on Earth.
This natural wonder is famous worldwide, drawing bird lovers to watch the cranes dance, call, and fill the sky. The sound and sight of so many cranes at once is truly magical.

The Cranes
About 80 percent of all the world's sandhill cranes stop here to rest and eat before flying farther north.
