Flathead Lake

Flathead Lake

Flathead Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake in the western United States. Its clear, clean water stretches for miles between gentle mountains and cherry orchards.

People love it for swimming, sailing, and eating the sweet cherries that grow along its shores. On calm days the water is so clear you can see fish swimming far below your boat.

Cherries

The mild weather by the lake is perfect for cherry trees, and farm stands sell buckets of the ripe fruit.

A big island in the lake is home to wild horses, bighorn sheep, and deer that live among the trees.
