Gulf Islands National Seashore
Gulf Islands National Seashore is a stretch of white sandy beaches and islands along Mississippi's Gulf Coast. It protects clear blue-green water, sand dunes, and quiet spots where you can swim, fish, and watch birds.
It is famous for having some of the softest, whitest sand in the whole country and warm gentle waves. People love taking boats out to Ship Island to explore an old fort and play on the beach.
Weather
The coast stays warm and sunny most of the year, perfect for beach days. Summers are hot and great for swimming, so bring a hat and lots of sunscreen.
Wildlife
You might see dolphins jumping, sea turtles, and many kinds of seabirds. Tiny crabs scurry along the sand, and colorful fish swim in the shallow water.
Ship Island
A ferry boat takes you out to a special island with a big old brick fort called Fort Massachusetts. It is a fun adventure to explore the fort and then splash in the waves.
