Tahquamenon Falls
Tahquamenon Falls is one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi River, tucked in a big forest in the Upper Peninsula. The wide Upper Falls thunder over a rocky ledge nearly 50 feet high.
The water is a special root-beer brown color from tannins in the cedar swamps, so people call it the Root Beer Falls. Families follow easy boardwalks and steps to viewing platforms right beside the roaring water.
