Bar Harbor

Bar Harbor

Bar Harbor is a charming seaside town on Mount Desert Island, right at the gateway to Acadia National Park. It has a busy little downtown, a pretty harbor, and boats coming and going all day.

It is loved for its whale-watching boat trips, fresh seafood, and a natural sandbar that lets you walk to a nearby island when the tide goes out. Visitors from all over the world stroll its friendly streets full of shops and ice cream.

Tides

When the tide is low, a hidden sandbar appears so you can walk across to Bar Island, but you must come back before the water returns.

Food

This is a great spot to try a real Maine lobster, warm blueberry pie, and homemade ice cream by the water.
