Acadia National Park is a huge nature park on the rocky coast of Maine, near the town of Bar Harbor. It has tall granite mountains, blue ocean, quiet forests, and clear lakes all in one place.
It is famous because Cadillac Mountain is one of the first places in the whole United States to see the sunrise each morning. Millions of visitors come every year to hike, bike the old carriage roads, and watch the waves crash at Thunder Hole.
From the top of Cadillac Mountain you can see the ocean dotted with tiny islands, and in the fall the trees turn bright red and orange.
Keep your eyes open for harbor seals on the rocks, peregrine falcons in the sky, and even shy white-tailed deer in the woods.
Families love hiking the easy trails around Jordan Pond, riding bikes on the smooth carriage roads, and eating warm popovers at the pond house.
