Indiana Dunes National Park

Indiana Dunes National Park

Indiana Dunes National Park sits along the shore of Lake Michigan with tall sandy hills and sparkling blue water. It is a wonderful place to splash, hike, and build sandcastles.

It is loved for its huge sand dunes that you can climb like giant sandy mountains. Families come to enjoy the beaches, spot birds, and watch the sun set over the lake.

Climbing the Dunes

Some dunes are so tall that climbing to the top feels like a real adventure. From up high you can see the whole shimmering lake stretching far away.

Beaches and Swimming

In warm summer months the sandy beaches are perfect for swimming and playing in the gentle waves. The water can feel chilly, so it is a nice cool treat on a hot day.

The park is home to many birds, butterflies, and wildflowers that change with the seasons. Quiet trails wind through forests, marshes, and grassy dunes.
