Waimea Canyon

Waimea Canyon is a deep, colorful valley on the island of Kauai, often called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Its red, green, and orange walls stretch for miles under the bright sky.

It is famous for its enormous size and the amazing rainbow of colors painted across its cliffs. Visitors love the lookout points where they can gaze across the canyon and spot distant waterfalls.

Colorful Cliffs

The canyon walls glow with shades of red, purple, green, and gold from ancient volcanic rock. The colors change through the day as sunlight moves across them.

Rainbows

Because Kauai gets frequent gentle showers, rainbows often appear over the canyon. Spotting one arching across the valley feels like a little bit of magic.
