Tybee Island

Tybee Island

Tybee Island is a small, sunny beach town on the Atlantic coast just a short drive from Savannah. It has soft sandy beaches, gentle waves, and a tall black-and-white lighthouse you can climb.

It is a favorite family getaway because the calm water is great for swimming, building sandcastles, and looking for seashells. People love watching dolphins play offshore and catching the sunrise over the ocean.

Beach and Weather

Warm sunny days make Tybee perfect for swimming and splashing from spring through fall. The wide flat beach is soft underfoot and the shallow water stays gentle for little ones.

Wildlife

Dolphins often swim near the shore and boats offer tours to see them up close. Loggerhead sea turtles come to lay eggs in summer, and shorebirds hunt for tiny crabs along the sand.

Climb the Lighthouse

The Tybee Island Light Station has guided ships for over 275 years and you can climb its 178 steps. From the top you get a breezy, wide-open view of the beach, the marsh, and the sea.
