Amicalola Falls State Park
Amicalola Falls State Park sits in the north Georgia mountains and is home to the tallest waterfall in the state. The water tumbles 729 feet down the rocks in a series of shining cascades.
It is loved for its breathtaking waterfall views, its mountain trails, and its cozy lodge overlooking the forest. Many hikers begin their famous journey along the Appalachian Trail from a stone arch near the falls.
The Big Waterfall
Amicalola Falls drops in seven steps down the mountainside, making it the highest waterfall in Georgia. A staircase and viewing platforms let you feel the cool mist and hear the roaring water up close.
Mountain Trails
Shady trails wind through the forest past the falls and up to lookout points. The park is the gateway to the Appalachian Trail, a footpath that stretches all the way to Maine.
Wildlife and Seasons
Deer, wild turkeys, and songbirds live in the woods, and a nearby center cares for rescued hawks and owls. In autumn the whole mountain glows red and gold as the leaves change color.
