Walt Disney World Resort
Walt Disney World Resort is a giant vacation destination near Orlando, Florida, made up of four theme parks, two water parks, and dozens of hotels. It is one of the biggest and most visited entertainment places on Earth, filled with rides, characters, shows, and fireworks.
Walt Disney World is famous for its magical Cinderella Castle, beloved characters like Mickey Mouse, and rides that families remember for a lifetime. People all over the world love it because it turns fairy tales into real places you can walk through, meet your favorite characters, and feel like a kid again.
Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom is the most famous park, home to the towering Cinderella Castle at the end of Main Street, U.S.A. Kids can ride Space Mountain in the dark, spin in giant teacups, and sail the boats of it's a small world. Every night the castle lights up for a huge fireworks show.
EPCOT
EPCOT is known for its giant silver geodesic sphere called Spaceship Earth, which looks like a huge golf ball. One half of the park explores science, space, and the future, while the other half lets you travel around a lake to eleven countries with real food and music. Kids love riding through the world of Frozen in the Norway area.
Disney's Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom mixes a real zoo with theme-park adventure around a giant carved Tree of Life. You can ride a bumpy safari truck to see lions, elephants, giraffes, and rhinos roaming wide savannas. At night the world of Pandora from the movie Avatar glows with blue and purple plants.
Hollywood Studios
Disney's Hollywood Studios celebrates movies, television, and the world of Star Wars. In Galaxy's Edge you can pilot the Millennium Falcon and build your own droid or lightsaber. Toy Story Land shrinks you down to the size of a toy for family rides among giant blocks and games.
Characters and Shows
Everywhere you go you can meet beloved characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse, princesses, and superheroes for hugs and photos. Colorful parades roll down the streets with music and dancing during the day. Live stage shows bring favorite movies to life for the whole family.
Water Parks
Disney has two big water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, perfect for Florida's warm sunny days. You can float down lazy rivers, splash in giant wave pools, and zoom down towering water slides. Blizzard Beach is themed like a melting ski resort, which is a fun and silly idea in sunny Florida.
History
Walt Disney World opened on October 1, 1971, several years after Walt Disney first dreamed of a bigger, better park in Florida. It began with just Magic Kingdom and has grown for more than fifty years into a resort larger than some cities. Today it welcomes tens of millions of visitors from around the world every year.
