Yosemite National Park
Yosemite is a huge national park in the Sierra Nevada mountains, full of giant granite cliffs, waterfalls, and ancient trees. Millions of people visit each year to hike, camp, and gaze up at its towering rock walls.
It is famous for the towering cliffs of El Capitan and Half Dome, and for silvery waterfalls that tumble hundreds of feet. People love it because it feels like stepping into one of the most beautiful outdoor cathedrals on Earth.
Waterfalls
Yosemite Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls in North America, and it roars loudest in spring when the mountain snow melts. Bring a rain jacket if you walk close, because the mist floats through the air like gentle rain.
Wildlife
Black bears, mule deer, and playful squirrels all make their home in the park, and you might spot a bear searching for berries. Rangers remind everyone to keep food locked away so the animals stay wild and safe.
Giant Trees
In the Mariposa Grove you can walk among giant sequoias, some of the biggest and oldest living things in the world. A few are so wide that it would take many kids holding hands to circle around the trunk.
