Denali National Park and Preserve
Denali National Park is a huge wilderness in the heart of Alaska built around Denali, the tallest mountain in North America. It protects six million acres of forests, tundra, rivers, and snowy peaks.
Denali is famous for its giant mountain that reaches over 20,000 feet into the sky and for its wild animals roaming free. Visitors love riding the park bus to spot grizzly bears, moose, caribou, and wolves in one of the last truly wild places on Earth.
Wildlife
Denali is home to the 'big five' Alaskan animals: grizzly bears, moose, caribou, Dall sheep, and wolves. If you keep your eyes open from the park bus, you might spot a fluffy baby moose or a bear digging for berries.
The Tall Mountain
Denali the mountain is so tall that it makes its own weather and is often hidden behind clouds. On a clear day it shines white and pink, and people cheer when they finally see the whole peak.
Sled Dogs
Denali is the only U.S. national park with a team of working sled dogs that help rangers patrol the snowy backcountry in winter. Kids love visiting the friendly husky puppies at the park kennels.
