Sitka sits on an island along Alaska's southern coast and was once the capital when Russia owned Alaska long ago. It is a beautiful seaside town full of history, forests, and ocean life.
You can see totem poles in Sitka National Historical Park, visit a raptor center that heals hurt eagles, and watch a golden onion-domed Russian church downtown. Sea otters and whales swim close to shore.
