Scranton is called the Electric City because it had one of the first electric streetcar systems in the country. It grew rich from coal mining and railroads, and its history is still all around town.

You can ride deep underground on a real coal mine tour, climb aboard old locomotives at Steamtown National Historic Site, and enjoy the trolley museum. It is a great place to learn how people worked long ago.
