Monroe

Monroe is a welcoming city in northeast Louisiana along the Ouachita River. It has a long history and is a hub for the towns around it.

You can meet animals at the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo, ride a boat through the zoo's bayou, and explore a hands-on children's museum. The riverfront is nice for a family walk.

The Zoo

The Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo is one of the oldest zoos in the state. You can see lions, monkeys, and alligators and take a boat ride through the swampy paths.

The Ouachita River

The Ouachita River flows through the middle of Monroe. The riverfront has walking paths and pretty views, and the water has always helped the city grow.
