Ketchikan is the first Alaskan town many visitors reach as they travel north by sea, and it calls itself the salmon capital of the world. It is famous for rainy skies, colorful houses on stilts, and totem poles.
You can walk along Creek Street, a boardwalk built over the water where salmon swim below, and see the world's largest collection of totem poles. Rainforest trails and eagles are everywhere.
