Kenai

About 7,400 people.

Kenai is an old town where a wide river meets the ocean, and it is one of the best fishing spots in all of Alaska. People come from far away to catch giant salmon in the Kenai River.

You can stand on the beach and watch beluga whales, look for moose in the fields, and see a little blue-and-white Russian church that is very old. In summer the riverbanks are full of happy fishing families.

The Kenai River

This bright blue-green river is world famous for huge salmon, and its color comes from tiny bits of glacier rock in the water.

Beluga Whales

From the bluff above the beach you can sometimes spot white beluga whales swimming where the river meets the sea.
