Detroit

About 630,000 people.

Detroit

Detroit is the biggest city in Michigan and the birthplace of the American car industry, which is why it is nicknamed the Motor City. It is also famous around the world for Motown music.

You can ride the fun elevated People Mover train, explore the giant Henry Ford Museum, and see the shiny towers along the riverfront. Do not miss the huge cars and old trains at the museum.

Detroit built cars for the whole country and gave us Motown, a happy sound that made millions of people dance. You can visit the little house where Motown Records started.

Riverfront and Parks

A long walking path follows the Detroit River, with playgrounds, a carousel, and great views of Canada on the other side. Belle Isle is a huge island park with a nature center.
