Council Bluffs

About 62,000 people.

Council Bluffs

Council Bluffs sits on the western edge of Iowa across the Missouri River from Nebraska. It was a very important stop for trains heading west long ago.

You can walk across the giant Bob Kerrey pedestrian bridge between two states, explore the Union Pacific Railroad Museum, or play at a fun local park.

Railroad History

Council Bluffs was chosen as a starting point for the railroad that crossed the whole country, so trains are a big part of its story.

The Two-State Bridge

A long curvy footbridge lets you stand with one foot in Iowa and one foot in Nebraska at the very same time.
