Baton Rouge is the capital of Louisiana, which means it is where the state government works. It is a lively college town and sits along the Mississippi River.
You can visit the tall State Capitol building and ride an elevator to the top for a big view. Kids also love the LSU campus, the zoo, and touring a real old battleship on the river.

Baton Rouge is home to LSU, a big university with a huge football stadium called Tiger Stadium. On game days the city is full of purple and gold and lots of cheering.
