Alamogordo

About 32,000 people.

Alamogordo sits in the southern desert next to giant white sand dunes and tall mountains. It is a center for space and rocket history in New Mexico.

You can slide down the snowy-white dunes at White Sands, blast through space exhibits at the space history museum, and pick fresh pistachios at nearby farms.

White Sands

Right next to Alamogordo lies a huge field of pure white sand dunes that stretch for miles like fresh snow. Kids love sledding down the soft hills on plastic saucers.

Space and Rockets

Alamogordo is home to a space history museum where you can see real rockets and learn about a famous space chimp named Ham. The nearby desert has been a testing ground for spaceflight for decades.
