Sweet and a little tangy, soft and juicy, with tiny seeds that crunch a little.

Why it is healthy

Packed with vitamin C, even more than an orange, to help keep you healthy.

How to eat it

Cut it in half and scoop the green part with a spoon, or peel and slice it into rounds.

How it grows

Grows on climbing vines in mild sunny places; the fuzzy fruit hangs down like little eggs.

In season

History

This fruit came from China long ago and became famous when it was grown in New Zealand.

Fun fact

The kiwifruit was named after the kiwi, a small brown fuzzy bird from New Zealand.

Try this

The green skin is edible after a wash, but many people prefer to scoop out the soft inside.
