Punta del Este
Punta del Este is a glamorous beach city where a narrow peninsula splits the calm Rio de la Plata from the wide open Atlantic Ocean. It is famous for golden sands, tall towers, and a giant sculpture of a hand rising out of the beach.
People love it for its sunny summers, lively boardwalks, and the giant fingers of La Mano that everyone climbs on for photos. It feels like a happy holiday town full of ice cream, boats, and warm waves.
The famous hand sculpture
Five giant concrete fingers reach out of the sand at Brava Beach, built by an artist to remind swimmers to be careful in the ocean. Kids love climbing the thumb and pretending the beach is holding them.
Two seas, two beaches
On one side the water is calm and gentle, perfect for little swimmers, while the other side has big rolling waves for surfers. You can walk from quiet to wild in just a few minutes.
Sea lions and sunsets
Near the port you can spot playful sea lions barking and swimming close to the fishing boats. In the evening the whole sky turns pink and orange over the water.
