Teide National Park
Teide National Park sits on the island of Tenerife and is home to Mount Teide, the tallest mountain in all of Spain. It is a volcano surrounded by a wide, rocky landscape that looks a bit like the surface of Mars.
People love it for its colorful red and gold rocks, the bubbling volcano, and some of the clearest night skies on Earth. A cable car can carry you almost to the very top.
A Sleeping Volcano
Mount Teide is a volcano that is resting quietly, but it still warms the rocks near its top. Long ago its eruptions helped build the whole island of Tenerife.
Star-Filled Skies
The air here is so clear and dark at night that you can see thousands of stars and the Milky Way. Scientists even built telescopes nearby to study space.
Ride to the Top
A cable car glides up the mountainside, giving riders a bird's-eye view of the whole island. From the top you can sometimes look down on the clouds below you.
