Donana National Park
Donana National Park is a huge wild wetland in southern Spain where rivers, marshes, and sand dunes meet the sea. It is one of the most important homes for wild birds and animals in all of Europe.
People love it for watching flamingos, deer, and wild horses, and for the giant sand dunes that slowly move with the wind. Millions of birds stop here to rest as they travel between Europe and Africa.
Pink Flamingos
Great flocks of tall pink flamingos wade through the shallow water looking for food. Their bright color comes from the tiny shrimp they eat.
A Home for Rare Animals
The park protects the rare Iberian lynx, a spotted wild cat with tufted ears, along with deer and wild boar. Rangers work hard to keep these special animals safe.
Moving Sand Dunes
Along the coast are huge dunes of soft sand that the wind slowly pushes across the land. Little by little they even bury and uncover small pine trees.
