El Yunque National Forest
El Yunque is the only tropical rainforest in the United States National Forest system, covering green mountains in the northeast of Puerto Rico. It is filled with waterfalls, giant ferns, and misty peaks you can hike to.
People love El Yunque because it feels like a magical jungle where you can swim in cool natural pools and hear tiny coqui frogs singing everywhere. It is famous as the home of rare plants and animals found nowhere else on Earth.

Wildlife
The forest is home to the famous coqui frog, colorful birds, and the rare Puerto Rican parrot. Listen closely at dusk and you will hear the coqui sing its own name.
Activities
Families love hiking the shady trails to hidden waterfalls and splashing in the natural pools. You can also climb an old stone tower for a huge view over the treetops.
