Cabo Rojo Lighthouse and Playa Sucia
At the southwest tip of Puerto Rico, a historic white lighthouse stands on dramatic limestone cliffs above the sea. Just below lies Playa Sucia, a curved beach with calm, glassy turquoise water.
People love the area for its wide-open views, pink-tinted salt flats, and postcard-perfect beach. It is famous as one of the most scenic corners of the whole island.
Scenery
White cliffs drop down to bright blue water, and the lighthouse sits proudly on top. Nearby salt flats sometimes turn soft shades of pink under the sun.
Wildlife
The salt flats are a busy stopover for flamingos and many kinds of shorebirds. Bring binoculars and you may spot herons wading through the shallow water.
Activities
Families enjoy a short walk out to the lighthouse and swimming in the calm bay below. The gentle water makes it a lovely spot for a relaxed beach day.
