Nazca Lines
The Nazca Lines are giant drawings scratched into the desert floor over 2,000 years ago. They show huge shapes like a monkey, a hummingbird, a spider, and long straight lines.
They are famous because the shapes are so big you can only see them fully from the sky. People are fascinated by the mystery of who made them and why.

The ancient Nazca people made the lines by moving dark stones to show the light ground beneath. No one is fully sure why they drew such huge pictures.
How to see them
Small planes fly gently over the desert so you can spot each animal shape from above. There is also a tall tower next to the road for a peek.
Weather
This is one of the driest deserts on Earth, with almost no rain all year. The dry, calm air is the reason the lines have lasted so long.
