Peruvian Amazon Rainforest
The Peruvian Amazon is a vast, green rainforest full of rivers, tall trees, and thousands of animals. It covers more than half of Peru and is reached from towns like Iquitos and Puerto Maldonado.
It is loved as one of the most alive places on the planet, home to monkeys, pink river dolphins, and macaws. Families enjoy boat rides, jungle walks, and spotting creatures they have only seen in books.
Wildlife
The jungle is home to playful monkeys, bright macaws, sloths, and pink dolphins that swim in the river. So many kinds of animals live here that new ones are still being found.

The mighty Amazon River begins in Peru's mountains and grows huge as it flows. People travel by boat because roads cannot reach many jungle villages.
Weather
The rainforest is warm, wet, and green all year long. Sudden rain showers help the plants grow taller than tall buildings.
