Defensores del Chaco National Park
Defensores del Chaco is the largest national park in Paraguay, a vast wild land of dry forest and thorny scrub in the remote Chaco region. A lone flat-topped hill called Cerro Leon rises dramatically from the endless plains.
It is the best place in Paraguay to imagine truly wild nature, home to jaguars, giant anteaters, and rare peccaries. Nature lovers treasure it as one of the last great wildernesses in South America.
Amazing Animals
Jaguars, giant anteaters, tapirs, and armadillos all roam this wild park. It is one of the few places where such big animals still live free.
Cerro Leon
This flat-topped hill stands alone above miles of dry forest like a giant table. It is the most famous landmark in the whole Chaco.
