Climate

Honduras is warm and tropical, hotter on the coasts and cooler in the mountains. Average highs are about 78F to 90F (26C to 32C). The rainy season is May to November and the dry season is December to April.

Main industries

Coffee and bananas are the top exports, along with palm oil, shrimp, and clothing factories. Honduras is one of the world's largest coffee growers.

A little history

Copan was a great Maya city long ago. Honduras was a Spanish colony and won its independence in 1821.

Fun fact

The money is named the lempira after a brave Indigenous chief who fought the Spanish, and the scarlet macaw was sacred to the ancient Maya of Copan.
