Acatenango Volcano
Acatenango is one of the tallest volcanoes in Guatemala, right next to the fiery Fuego volcano. Brave hikers climb it to camp high up among the clouds.
It is famous because from its slopes you can watch the neighboring Fuego volcano puff and glow. Visitors love camping overnight and waking up above a sea of clouds.
Big Climb
The hike up Acatenango is long and takes you through forests and cool mountain air. Guides help groups reach the high camp where the views are amazing.
Volcano Show
From the camp you can watch the Fuego volcano send up puffs of smoke and glowing sparks. At night it looks like the mountain is putting on a show just for you.
Above the Clouds
It gets chilly high up, so warm coats and hot cocoa make camping cozy. In the morning the sun rises over a soft blanket of clouds below your feet.
