A little history
Home to the Maya and the Pipil people, El Salvador was a Spanish colony and won its independence in 1821. It is Central America's smallest country.
Fun fact
El Salvador is nicknamed the Land of Volcanoes, and its famous snack is the pupusa, a thick stuffed corn cake.
