Quito Historic Center

Quito is the capital city of Ecuador, high up in the Andes mountains. Its old town is full of colorful churches, cobblestone streets, and grand plazas from hundreds of years ago.

Quito is famous for having one of the best-preserved old towns in all of the Americas, so beautiful it was one of the first places named a World Heritage Site. People love its golden churches and the friendly squares where families gather.

Golden Churches

The church called La Compania sparkles inside with walls covered in gold, like a treasure box. Many old churches have tall bell towers you can spot across the city.

Cool Mountain Weather

Because Quito sits very high in the mountains, the days are spring-like all year and the nights are cool. A light jacket keeps you cozy while you explore.

Near Quito is a special line where you can stand with one foot in the north and one foot in the south of the Earth. It is a fun spot to learn about our planet.
