Los Haitises National Park
Los Haitises National Park is a wild green world of rounded jungle hills, hidden caves, and mangrove forests on Samana Bay. Boats weave between hundreds of little islands covered in trees that rise straight out of the water.
It is famous for its dramatic scenery and ancient caves painted by the Taino people long ago. Nature lovers adore the pelicans, the quiet mangrove tunnels, and the feeling of exploring a lost land.
Caves and History
Deep caves hold rock drawings made by the Taino, the island's first people, showing animals and faces. Boats glide right inside these cool, echoing caverns.
Wildlife
Brown pelicans dive for fish and frigate birds soar overhead near a rocky island nicknamed Bird Island. Crabs, herons, and even manatees live among the tangled mangrove roots.
Scenery
Green humpback hills called mogotes pop up out of the sea like giant mossy stones. Everything is misty, lush, and quiet, like a scene from an adventure movie.
