Sugarloaf Mountain
Sugarloaf Mountain is a tall, round rock that rises straight out of the sea at the entrance to Rio de Janeiro's bay. Its smooth shape looks like a giant loaf of sugar, which is how it got its name.
People love riding the glass cable cars that glide up to the top for a breathtaking view of the whole city and ocean. It is one of the most photographed spots in all of Brazil.
The Cable Car
A glass-walled cable car carries you high above the bay in two exciting rides. As you float upward, the boats and beaches below get smaller and smaller.
Sunset Views
At sunset the sky turns pink and orange over the city lights, and Christ the Redeemer glows in the distance. Many people say it is the best sunset view in Rio.
Little Monkeys
Tiny marmoset monkeys sometimes hop around the paths and trees at the top. They are curious and cute, but visitors are asked to watch and not to feed them.
