Valle de la Luna

Valle de la Luna

Valle de la Luna, or Valley of the Moon, is a maze of tall, pointy clay towers just outside the city of La Paz. Wind and rain slowly carved the soft ground into shapes that look like another world.

It is famous because the strange spikes and canyons really do look like the surface of the moon. Families walk along safe paths between the towers and take fun photos in the unusual scenery.

Rock Towers

Hundreds of tall clay spikes stand close together like a stone forest. They come in soft shades of tan, gray, and pink that glow in the sunlight.

Close to the City
