Hol Chan Marine Reserve

Hol Chan Marine Reserve

Hol Chan Marine Reserve is a protected underwater park near Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker. Its name means Little Channel in the Maya language, describing the cut in the reef where sea life gathers.

It is famous for a spot called Shark Ray Alley, where friendly nurse sharks and stingrays swim close by. Visitors love snorkeling here to see so many sea animals in one clear, calm place.

A Protected Park

This was the first marine reserve in Belize, made to keep the sea animals safe. Because it is cared for, the reef stays full of life for everyone to enjoy.
