Peninsula Valdes
Peninsula Valdes is a wild, windswept piece of land jutting into the Atlantic Ocean in Patagonia. It is one of the best places on Earth to watch amazing sea creatures in their natural home.
People travel from all over the world to see giant southern right whales swim close to shore. The peninsula is a protected nature reserve and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Whale Watching
From June to December, huge southern right whales and their babies come to the calm bays to rest. You can watch them from a boat as they wave their tails and blow spouts of water.
Penguins and Seals
The rocky shores are packed with colonies of penguins, sea lions, and elephant seals lounging in the sun. In some spots you can watch thousands of waddling penguins at once.
Land Animals
Away from the water, the dry plains are roamed by fluffy guanacos, quick rheas, and burrowing armadillos. It feels like a real-life safari at the bottom of the world.
